ColecoVisionOriginal comment: Colecovision Series #006 - Lady Bug Footage captured directly from a Colecovision system through RF Connection. I've never played Lady Bug before, and at first it seems like just another Pac-Man clone, but after playing it for a while I'd have to say that this game is addictive in it's own right. I know this is a port of an arcade game, but I've never even seen a Lady Bug machine before so I can't comment on how well this looks to the original. The gameplay is simple, but addictive. You are a Lady Bug moving around a maze collecting dots and every so often the center of the maze releases a bug that can harm you. The real innovation to this game is the pivoting walls you can move that constantly change the layout of the maze. Since the enemy bugs can't move them, it's a good way to escape. There are letters on the screen that can be used to spell the words "Special" and "Extra", but I haven't been able to do it because the letter keep shifting colors and you have to pick up "Special" letters when they are red and "Extra" letters while they are yellow. Adding to the difficulty of this task is that the letters you need may never appear since the letters that do appear seem completely random. There are also skulls on the board that can kill you if you touch them, but they will also kill an enemy bug if they touch it as well. Once all the center bugs are on the field, you can pick up a vegetable for extra points and temporarily stun all enemies. The game is really fun once you get into it and I consider it to be a great title on the Colecovision. The video on -> Youtube |

Atari 2600Original comment: In this video, I take a look at the excellent homebrew port of Ladybug for the Atari 2600 by Champ Games. *NOTE* The flicker is worse here than in the actual game. The video on -> Youtube |
